Milestones for BMW Automobiles

On its centenary, BMW came out with a list of vehicles the company considers as milestones. Here are four of the most iconic motor vehicles that cemented BMW as the world’s premiere automobile manufacturer:

328 This classic first made its appearance in Nurburgring in 1936. BMW claims this to be the first car to put an emphasis on design, technology, and drive-ability. These three qualities are the fundamentals BMW would use in manufacturing their cars for decades to come.

i3 The i3 may not have been the most commercially-successful BMW car in the history of the company, but the company goes on the record to refer to it as one of the, if not the most forward-thinking production road vehicle ever made.

X5 Released in 1995, the X5 was BMW’s first SUV. It was a pioneer in dynamic maneuverability as well as off-road control. It is also the focal point in BMW’s American operations, being put together in their South Carolina plant.

R80 G/S The R80 G/S was one of the crowning jewels in the motorcycle manufacturing endeavor of BMW. It had great off-road capabilities and also moved smoothly on the road. It has been a template bike for many motorcycle manufacturers in the world.

Bmw And Mercedes Benz: The German Kings Of The Road

The two most popular luxury car brands in the world both had their start in Germany. Mercedes Benz was first used in 1926, and is a combination of Karl Benz’s Motorwagen and Daimler’s Mercedes. BMW or Bayerische Motoren Werke AG was founded ten years before the first Mercedes Benz was built. BMW helped in manufacturing engines during the Great War. Today, after a century filled with automobile manufacturing milestones, BMW and Mercedes Benz are still going strong. But which manufacturer has the better product? Let’s take a gander.

Design

As far as design goes, Mercedes Benz was leaps and bounds better. BMW was often criticized for looking the same in and out. But these past few years, BMW has changed that. Learning from Mercedes Benz, BMW has begun to vary its designs.

Technology

Although Mercedes Benz is a safe car with its Intelligent Drive and Attention Assist features, BMW’s safety technology is a notch above the rest. While most cars having one processor controlling all danger sensors during accidents, BMW has several processors, for the different parts of the car, making the car’s safety response time much faster.

Engine

Efficiency is a German trademark, and Mercedes Benz has just about perfected it. Mercedes Benz engines have always been the most efficient on the market. Its horsepower to consumption ratio proves that. BMW’s engine, on the other hand, gives off more power. After all, BMW started out as an engine company. BMW’s engines are stronger and preferred by more adventurous drivers.
