The two most popular luxury car brands in the world both had their start in Germany. Mercedes Benz was first used in 1926, and is a combination of Karl Benz’s Motorwagen and Daimler’s Mercedes. BMW or Bayerische Motoren Werke AG was founded ten years before the first Mercedes Benz was built. BMW helped in manufacturing engines during the Great War. Today, after a century filled with automobile manufacturing milestones, BMW and Mercedes Benz are still going strong. But which manufacturer has the better product? Let’s take a gander.

Design
As far as design goes, Mercedes Benz was leaps and bounds better. BMW was often criticized for looking the same in and out. But these past few years, BMW has changed that. Learning from Mercedes Benz, BMW has begun to vary its designs.
Technology
Although Mercedes Benz is a safe car with its Intelligent Drive and Attention Assist features, BMW’s safety technology is a notch above the rest. While most cars having one processor controlling all danger sensors during accidents, BMW has several processors, for the different parts of the car, making the car’s safety response time much faster.

Engine
Efficiency is a German trademark, and Mercedes Benz has just about perfected it. Mercedes Benz engines have always been the most efficient on the market. Its horsepower to consumption ratio proves that. BMW’s engine, on the other hand, gives off more power. After all, BMW started out as an engine company. BMW’s engines are stronger and preferred by more adventurous drivers.
